Skalmo - The Medium Pack Pod - 8 Liter
To make a long story short - I love packing pods. I have used various forms of packing pods in my packing for many years. Made my first own version back in 2010. When we started Skalmo gear, we developed a "food bag", but I never use a food bag myself. Basically I just use a big packing pod for my food. So to keep making something that we don't use ourselves, felt a bit unmotivated. So instead, we rethought and created a standard packing pod, which can be used in many different ways. The features I wanted a new packing pod to have:
1. be able to store food for at least 5 days
2. Have handles
3. Be lightweight
4. Be relatively waterproof
5. Also be able to be used for clothes, changes, things that you want to be able to lift into the tent.
Simple and good, and with those goals we designed our "perfect" pod, or The large food pod as we originally called it. Almost12 liters and only 30 grams, makes it the largest packing pod for its weight available on the market". This variant is slightly smaller but still big enough to swallow a lot of your gear.
Thanks to its Dyneema® fabric and aquaguard zipper, it is as close to waterproof as possible.(Not 100% though - the zipper's fault) Anyway, I use two pods when I go out. One to store food, kitchen, cutlery and associated equipment and one with changes, clothes, electronics, pillow, ie gadgets that I want to be able to easily lift into the tent. The design means that this packing pod is optimized to use the total size of the backpack.
Our Medium food pod fits most backpacks up to 60 liters and can be shaped to fit your backpack!

About Dyneema®:
Dyneema® composite fabric (formerly Cuben Fiber). DCF is a patented, ultra-lightweight fabric made from flexible non-woven composite laminates that are reinforced with Dyneema® fibers.
This fabric is costly for a good reason. It is 15 times stronger than steel and provides the highest tear and tensile strength of all competing fabrics relative to weight and thickness. It is only used for projects that require high performance and are very lightweight, while having the absolute best waterproof properties on the market.
